On and Off - I’ve been here 3 times now as it’s near my office and not a chain like everything else in Victoria. The first time I went I was with a foodie colleague who loves the place and the waiters treat him like a king. We were in a hurry so I just had their minestrone soup and salad. Both were really good. They gave us Limoncello at the end of our meal for free. Great, I’ll be back when I have more time.

I then took a few of my team members here again over the summer. We sat in the window and had a pleasant meal. They brought breadsticks, olives and parmesan cheese chunks when we arrived. Nice start. We ordered a couple of their many salads to share; one was mozzarella with tomatoes and basil and avocado, the other roasted vegetables. Both were good. Our mains were also good. I had the wild mushroom risotto.

Then last week I take a couple of friends from work and our experience is completely different. One, it’s the first time I didn’t book a table so we sat in the very back in the low ceiling room. I ordered the minestrone soup again but this time is was a few vegetables including cabbage in a tomato based soup. Yuck! We also ordered some side veggies including broccoli and they were all swimming in butter or oil. Yuck again! My friend had the wild mushroom risotto and said it was just ok. It took them forever to bring our bill and when we asked them to put my portion on the credit card and the rest in cash, but we needed change, they put the remaining amount on card and then the owner came over and was annoyed at us.

I have mixed feeling for this place now. It’s Italian run which gives is a nice local feel to it, but maybe it’s who you know in order to get decent service and a meal. 26-10-07
