it pays to belong... - They spent a rubbish load of money making this place look cheap! But all us members only ever end up using it for the glam factor and to show off a bit but in reality it is simply an ultra-cool place to chill out and escape the peasants below, hehehe... Just jokes! But if you ever do get the opportunity to be blessed with and invite to Shoreditch House, you should go.
Unpretentious, casual service. Not so expensive as you would expect but by no means a cheap. Spacious throughout, roof top pool for Summer and big-ass lounges with fireplaces for the Winter. Great on a Sunday morning for coffee and benedict before 1:00pm when the families appear ritually in droves. And if you like Space Invaders? There is a place for you too! MC

I love it here - I became a member about three months ago and I love this place!

Mondays are great - if you're under 27 then EVERYTHING is half price.

The food is great value for money and very tasty, and the cocktails are lovely.

The gym is fab (though I hate working out so spend most of my time in the sauna/steam room).

The only thing I don't like is the fact I feel like I'd have to lose a stone before getting my bikini on in front of the beautiful people and getting in the pool.

Nice place... but no Asians please. - I do not normally have insecurities about not being white, but this place did give me the impression that I was not terribly welcome.

Its a beautiful trendy place, great food, beautiful people and I wish I could be a member here, but I know they will not accept me.Perhaps if I was black - it would be ok, Asian/Orental no way. Maybe if I was on TV (like Gok Wan).

Plus I work in the City...

Of course I could be totally wrong, when you are in a club and you are the only Asian/Oriental person among about 250 (and you are in East London) - it speaks volumes.

Where are the eastend folk? - A few of my friends and I went there in the afternoon for a couple drinks before going out in Shoreditch. I was excited to go sit near the pool but when we got there it was closed for a private party. So we didn't stay too long b/c it was such a nice day and we wanted to be outside. But we stayed long enough for me to check out the vibe. The afternoon is a lot different from the evening - or at least the evening I went. Chilled out mixture of people having a late lunch; women with bright red lipstick and dressed trendy; and men with their skinny jeans or shorts with flip flops. Definitely locals.

Before I got onto the evening, I have to comment on the decor. I love it! It's exactly what I'd want if I had an old warehouse loft living space. Exposed brick walls, cement ceilings with exposed beams and trendy, but eclectic furniture with funky lights. It works. I like it.

After the sun went down, we came back and ended up playing table tennis and pool. Not exactly what I would have had in mind but it was really fun. The people are completely different at night: Notting Hill, Westend crowd. Older, posher, no sign of east-end cool anymore. No hipsters that are out on the streets nearby. It was packed though so whatever the crowd, they're doing something right, just not for the eastenders.

It's hot and you know it - Oh come on! You know you want to go, and you know the only reason is because they won't let you. It's a little slice of fabulous in a pretty grim part of london.

Admittedly I did bump into Sienna Miller there which may have lent my lunch a little something extra the food did not quite provide.

Decor is tres chic, the spaces make you think about getting a decent decorator in for your own home. Food was really good, wine list is fantastic but there is something going wrong between kitchen and table... presumably distance... since my meal was stone cold.

But dammit if we don't all love a rooftop pool and cocktails.

The only living boy in Shoreditch - Shoreditch doesn’t make it easy.

It’s members only. And even if you are a member, it’s +3. It’s far. And the pool taunts us as we use central heating in July.

But isn’t that why we love it? Because it says no when we so want it to say yes.

A little over hyped - It was Groucho Marks who famously quipped 'I don't want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member.'

Now I'm not a member of Shoreditch house but I have been there quite a lot which makes me wonder how many of the people that actually go there ARE members, and if MOST of them are not surely it sort of negates the whole members 'exclusivity' thing?

The setting is awesome, on the right day sat on the roof deck you could be at the Standard in LA however its a) expensive and b) full of people who think they're really cool because they're at a members club (this goes for both members and blaggers alike).

In the day time its a really good place to be quiet and get some e-mails done, maybe have a game of scrabble with your friend in some comfy chairs but in the evening it can get packed.

The upside for most people is that the only time you'll see it is when your boss takes you, and for the prices they charge you want to make sure that its HIS/HER card behind the bar.
