Skylon London Reviews

Great restaurant - I had a lovely evening at Skylon. We had some drinks, appetizers and then - the main courses. They were amazing. We had to wait a little longer than we should but it was definitely worth it. The food was very delicious and obviously freshly made. I recommend the place to everyone.

I'll be back for drinks only... - Much as the earlier reviews note, I did really like some aspects of Skylon... the setting is pure glamour, fantastic lighting, floor to ceiling windows, beautiful staff. We were in the restaurant for Sunday lunch and were treated really well by the staff who were friendly and attentive. The food was... well.... pretty good, but not as good as we'd hoped. I think amybe this place has been a bit over-hyped and the food is never going to be as cool as the decor... I'd come back for drinks (or maybe to the cheaper grill), but not for the restaurant I'm afraid

A view from the Waterloo bridge - I completely agree with Nicola P,
Sklyon is pricey and classy.
If it's glamour you seek,
then give it a peek.
Shame the staff are a little bit arsey.

Room with a View - You can't beat this place for a bit of glamour. Floor to ceiling windows across the Thames, groovy sixties style decor and giant chandeliers. Even the staff look like they just stepped off the original Starship Enterprise. Although housed within the Royal Festival Hall, this place is very much a destination in itself. On one side of the room is an informal grill, and on the other side is a more formal restaurant, with the cocktail bar in the middle. I have been many times for cocktails, and they are very good indeed - including a list of seasonal specials. But at £9 a pop you don't want to overdo it. A group of us ate in the grill recently, and the food was pretty good but nothing exceptional. Simple food, well executed – fishcakes, steak and chips, pasta, fish of the day etc. The only thing that let them down on the night we went was the service - it took ages to get seated and we were gnawing at the table by the time they took our orders. I'll definitely be back, but only for drinks!
