Asian delights - I've eaten at many fusion asian places in London, from the E&O stable to Hakkasan, Yauatcha and so on. The food at Suka compares very favourably, in fact I would say best of the lot. Its fresh and inventive. We were with a large party so we had a set menu, but we had a great mixture of seafood, chicken and meats. Stand out dishes were singapore pepper mussles, lamb chops nice and pink, and delicious sticky barbeque chicken. Top marks for food. However the my overall rating also reflects the decor and service. Decor is stark (by Philippe Starke) and bland. The restaurant and bar fuse together which means the restaurant lacks any intimacy. The waiting staff we pretty good but finding a place for coats and getting seated was much harder than it needed to be, because the coat check was the other side of the hotel and you had to pass a bar full of people. If possible for drinks pre/post dinner skip the main bar and try and get into the Purple Room which is fabulous and the cocktails divine. 07-12-07
