Just one more for the road.... - Newly discovered "local" for me, which is great since I now have a fine selection of pubs to go to within a 10 minute radius. I'd actually walked past this place numerous times without giving it a second thought. It does look slightly rough from the outside - hinting at a more salubrious past, but a quick peek in the window put my fears to rest. Inside is a large room with a well worn wooden floor, a lovely old bar in the center, tables and mismatched chairs in the front, some diner style booths in the middle and some beaten up leather sofas towards the back. Shabby-chic some might say.
They have a good selection of reasonably priced wines, beers and also do good cocktails at £4.50 each. I had a margarita last Saturday and it was tasty. Ok maybe I had more than one.
Food is good comforting pub style food such as fish cakes, burgers, hummus and falafels and a couple of bigger style main dishes. Nothing amazing, but good value and complements the very relaxed atmosphere. Staff are friendly the and the pub is filled with a selection of trendy locals. Quite hard to leave once you've settled down with a bottle of wine, some nibbles and a good chat....
