Marvellous Mexican! - Just opposite Goldsmith's uni, Viva Zapata is a quiet, non-threatening looking place I had walked past many times. The Boyfriend and I decided to finally give this place a try a couple of months ago - and were pleasantly surprised!
We went on a Tuesday night and were the only two people in the restaurant. I was a bit wary of this but the waitress was very friendly and made us feel relaxed immediately. Although the place was empty, it still had a nice atmosphere. The background music was very mexican and the decor matched perfectly!
The food itself was superb. I had nachos to start while The Boyfriend opted for a beef chilli starter. Both were lovely and a good sized portion. For mains, I went for a Lamb dish which was superb. It was cooked beautifully and the smell and taste was amazing. The Boyfriend went for fajitas which were nice and spicy but not quite as good as my lamb!
The meal was very reasonably priced (about £30 for the two of us, including 2 very large glasses of sangria) and extremely delicious. I also noticed there were some lunchtime special prices of about a £5 for two courses during the week that seemed very good VFM.
The only negatives I can think of are that it is closed on a Sunday and the emptiness of the venue might put some people off. All in all, Viva Zapata is a great little place that doesn't seem to have been discovered yet.
