It was in the Anglesea Arms that the most talked about British Theft of the 20th Century was plotted. Bruce Reynolds conspired with an associate to mastermind The Great Train Robbery. Today, The Anglesea Arms is a pub that serves a variety of modern European dishes as well as pub snacks. They also provide catering for vegetarians and seating on the terrace area is provided, weather permitting.

Food lovers pub - I love this place for meeting family and friends.

Lovely dining area for really good food prepared by some talented chefs.

A huge blackboard in the dining area is always full of delicious seasonal dishes.

The Anglesea has a great wine list and a fine selection of whiskys.

There is small seated area on the pavement to catch summer sun. In the winter a seat by the open fire is hard to beat!

Really friendly staff.

Daddy of the Gastro's - In an isolated pocket of wealth in the otherwise mainstream west, lurks this daddy of gastro pubs. Excellent food, tad expensive / smallish portions but none the less, a great experience. Superb wine list, good range on beer on tap. Staff are slightly pretentious but landlady is friendly enough if you become a regular. Only draw back is the crowd - media darrrlings with family in tow, weekends can become a nightmare of hen pecked husbands nipping out for a crafty one with little ones running around - more of a creche than a boozer. Worth booking a table and making a meal out of it in the evening. 10-12-07
