Like being in a very mod aquarium - If you work or live around Liverpool Street, then the glass bar at Gaucho Broadgate is an elegant venue to go for a drink. The bar is a glass box at ground level while the restaurant is subterranean. Just a few blocks from the marvelous of grit of Brick Lane, Gaucho (and the crowd - mostly professionals) seems worlds a part from its hipster neighbours. Drink prices vary from moderate to expensive, but the atmosphere is great if you want to impress a client or a date.
As it's in the middle Broadgate, there isn't much of a view, but that's made up for in the evenings by the LED illuminated plaza which changes colour throughout the night.

Tasty Wines in a Glass Box - I went to celebrate a friend's birthday at this Gaucho Grill, a favourite of his. Located in the midst of a massive office park (UBS and RBS are both within steps from the restaurant), this place has a somewhat peculiar design, with a glass box encasing the bar, and a subterranean room for the restaurant itself. It rather reminded me of the Apple store on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
I went with a suggestion from the bartender who managed to select a lovely Argentine white wine for me that was quite satisfactory, and not TOO expensive (4 pounds for a glass, I had to remind myself it was classier than a pint). We also found the wait staff to be kind and accommodating: the size of our party fluctuated over the 1-2 hours we were there, but they never really bugged us about taking over new sections of the reasonably cozy bar space. Plus, when three of us went up to do celebratory shots for the birthday boy, he was given a little extra for the special day, and provided with a coca cola gratis to wash it all down.
