Shame about the service! - The venue is central (Marble Arch) and the decor quite stunning.You really feel like you're entering Thailand or Indonesia through the big wooden carved doors and descending the staircase. The aroma of incense, candles and orchids surround you.

This is a contender for a hip evening wih colleagues and friends, and there's a good cocktail selection too. We shared the duck spring rolls and edamame with 3 types of sauce and my cod (for main course) was sublime although my friends were not that impressed with their noodle dishes.

The worst part of the evening was when we queried the bill having been charged for a mary versus a virgin mary and were more or less accused of lying (!) as the waitress insisted we had the version with Vodka. That makes me even more angry as my friend was driving and could even have been pregnant. How dare they serve a version with alcohol? Reflecting back, the whole evening the service was poor, disinterested and unresponsive. Were we not good enough to require decent service?

What a shame that one person can ruin it for an establishment although I wasn't too impressed with the "attitude" by the manager and at the coat check either.So a big thumbs down for the service at Taman Gang.

We didn't pay the 3 pounds difference in the end however the loss is far greater as all 8 of us won't go back after being treated like that and moreover, having such a bad memory of our night out ending like this. 25-01-08
