Standard Indian Fare - Motijheel Tandoori Restaurant is a satisfactory but not exemplary Indian joint on Marchmont Street. The menu is pretty broad and includes flavors from many different parts of India, although it was clear to me that some areas are included for the purpose of broadening the menu and not so much because it is a dish that they specialize in.
I took my meal away, which made sense as the restaurant was jam packed at the time. Don't misunderstand, it's difficult for this place not to get crammed considering it's rather puny size, with about 10 tables in the front room and a larger table for big parties in the back. Prices are quite reasonable, but to some extent you get what you pay for, which in my case meant tiny frozen shrimp in my prawn biryani which was not terribly satisfying. The saag paneer (spinach with cheese) was better, and the complimentary poppers were greasy and delicious.
There are several other Indian restaurants in the area, and although I haven't had a chance to visit them yet, I'd likely try a new place before returning to this one. 29-10-07
