Young Cheng London Reviews

Amazing Won Ton - Finding decent Chinese food in China Town is like , like....hmmm where's a decent anaology when you need one - well its really difficult. I've been to a bunch of places which all looked the same and the food all tasted the same and none of it was any good really.

Thats why I was super suprised when I was taken to Young Cheng the other day by a friend who told me that it was really good 'yeah yeah yeah' I was thinking 'I'm sure its wayyyyy better than all the others' as I discreetly rolled my eyes knowingly.

Ha! was I wrong - this place is AWESOME. First off there's a man in the window with these bowls of boiling water where he makes the dumplings and won ton fresh! Second its one of those super cosy ( maybe cramped) cafe style places which I always think is awesome.

There were cool hand made signs on the wall in Chinese with no English description which I took to be a good sign.

Anyway I had the duck and a bowl of won ton soup - the duck was nice, the rice was plain but thats ok. The best thing however was the won ton soup - I'm a massive fan of Won Ton, in fact I think it comes at the top of my list of favorite / best soups - anyway this was the best best best won ton soup I've ever had - the broth was amazing, there was the right amount of noodles but it was the amount of won ton that was awesome. there were like 10 won ton - usually people give you 3 or if you have a bog soup they might give you 5 but never 10!!!!! And it wasn't just quantity, these were the nicest won tons I've ever eaten - its possible I was just under their spell after they chucked me so many won tons but I don't think so - they were awesome.

When the bill came it was about 20p a head, including champagne - ok we didn't have champagne and it was a little more than 20p each but it was super super cheap and finally finding somewhere decent near China Town is pure gold!
