It's all about the venue... - As far as pizza and Italian food chains go, Ask is no better really than others, though I do admit that the food we ate here (on the one occasion I've been here) was pretty good - vegetarian pizza and a pasta pesto dish. But, nothing to write home about.

What is pretty special about the Ask in York however, is the building and the restaurant space. It was huge. And architecturally and decoratively, stunning. It was obviously once an impressive municipal or stately holding dating back to the 19th century (or before? - it's right in the centre of York, very close to York Minster and surrounded by many medieval and ancient buildings). A very pleasant and approaching unique setting to sit and have dinner.
