This pub, named after the famous detective, is home to a wide range of Sherlock Holmes products. They serve traditional pub food from an a la carte menu and a selection of beer, real ales, wines and spirits in a busy yet cosy and friendly atmosphere. They have a roof garden and a terrace. They also have a no smoking section. Catering for private parties of up to 150 guests is available upon request.

Frightening 'still life' room - I first stumbled onto this pub while trying to sneak on to a Big Bus Company Guided Walk.

I have a long standing vendetta against the Big Bus Company and like to sneak onto their walks in retribution.

Anyway the London Ghost walk meets at the Sherlock Holmes pub at the start of their tour.

The pub is tucked away from the lip of the street and pretty standard as pubs go downstairs. Glass cases contain Sherlock Holmes 'artifacts' (i.e. random stuff the pub owners claim association to the detective novels).

Upstairs is a different story. The top floor restaurant is completely average in every way except it sits on a still life gallery of "Sherlock Holmes' Study" including a stuffed Holmes in a chair. The study is filled with refrences to the books and you can play quite a good game of eye spy.

It's actual a quite frightening display, the sort of thing I really wouldn't want to clean at night when everyone's gone home.

On a side not: if you, like me, would like to bring down the Big Bus Company Monopoly from within- then meet at the Sherlock Holmes on Saturdays at 6:15 pm and ingratiate your way into the group fold. They've already taken the tickets at Trafalgar square, but haven't yet properly started the tour. 17-04-08
