Seven Stars London Reviews

hidden - Close to my office and has personality a plenty. Hard to see why anyone would choose a one of the chain pubs nearby over this indie outlet. Better wine selection would be welcomed.

cats and lawyers - This is a pretty awesome pub - it has two main themes 1) lawyers, what with being between the Royal Courts of Justice and Lincolns Inn there are plenty of lawyers about, you have to have your wits about you at the bar as they're an assertive bunch and not afraid of ordering over your head. 2) Cats, they seem to have a pub cat or cats and they even had it food and water bowls on the actual bar which I think would gross some people out - they also have the worlds smallest bookshop which consists of 2 shelves containing about 10 books most of which are about cats.

It was pretty busy when I went and we stood outside, I reckon it gets pretty crammed when its raining but yeah when the suns out its awesome for pavement drinking.

A Charming Old-Timer - Seven Stars can get quite busy during the week, but is quite pleasant on the weekends since it is a bit isolated from the busier parts of Holborn and the lawyers have gone home. When I was there this past Saturday night it was at most half full, whereas other nights it can be pouring out the doors. The decor is charmingly quirky, with a hodgepodge of mostly law- and feline-related objects with a few random oddments mixed in. There are several good real ales on tap, and a creaky old bar that actually bends a bit when the taps are pulled. While I have yet to try the food, what I saw smelled good and appeared to be at least a notch above your average pub meal. It is possibly not worth going out of your way to get here, but I definitely enjoy the unusual antiquey ambiance.

Need a lawyer? Look here. - The Seven Stars is a small pub behind the Royal Courts of Justice, and as such tends to attract a lot of lawyers and other legal professionals. The legal atmosphere is reinforced with vintage posters from law-related films as well as the distinguished collar worn by Tom, the pub cat who presides over the bar like a magistrate.
The pub crowds easily, usually spilling across the street with QCs casually balancing pints on the walls of the court building. Traditional pub food is served, and a full range of spirits are available, although as with many pubs, it's pretty much all about the beer.
If you're interested in debating the finer points of tort law or adverse possession, this is a good place to find some amiable legal minds with which to engage. Otherwise, due to its cramped size, you might be better off at other nearby pubs.
