The Sports Cafe London Reviews

If you're not on the guest list... - ...you're not even getting in the queue! This is probably London's premier sports fan mecca. Its central location, size and ability to accommodate the big occasions like World Cup Finals and boxing title fights in weird wee hours of the morning certainly make it one of the most popular. For any big event there's nothing like the atmosphere, but make sure you get yourself on the guest list well in advance and then still turn up well before kick-off. I naively turned up half an hour before the game once. Swanning past the mile long queue outside, I smugly announced to the bouncer that I was on the guest list. After confirming this fact he directed me to the back of the very same queue whose inhabitants were also all on the guest list. a previous screening had gone into extra time and we were held there until it ended and some of it's viewers (judging by their expressions the ones on the losing side) came streaming out. Some small consolation came from being able to snigger mean-spiritedly at the poor deluded idiots being turned away from the queue as they weren't even on the guest list.

If you and your mates do get your A into G in good time to bag a prime spot, however, it's well worth it, to watch the big event in a venue dedicated to just that, loads of fit girls (and, I suppose, boys) all equally high on adrenalin and alcohol, the banter and the party atmosphere adding to the general excitement, especially after and especially if you enjoyed a good result!

The only drawback for me was the price of the food and drink. Although comparable to Central Tourist Trap London, and I haven't been for a while, but I'm betting they'd still be much higher than your local boozer, so I'd recommend going somewhere else before or after to eat. Not that the food's that bad - just quite average and not worth what they charge, in my opinion. Hopefully you'd be too wasted and having too much fun to notice though!
