Battersea Park is a large (83 hectares/200 acres) Victorian park, built between 1854 and 1870. It was formally opened in 1858. A major programme of work has recently been completed to restore and refurbish many of the Victorian and Festival of Britain elements of the park. There is much to enjoy. Features include a grand 1 kilometre riverside promenade, magnificent fountains (see below), a large lake (with boating from Easter), lakeside cafe, ornamental and ecological areas, many notable trees, sporting facilities, children's play areas and the Battersea Park Children's Zoo.

Battersea Park London Reviews

Get away from it all... - Nice park just over the river from Chelsea. In the middle you'll find exotic gardens, a boating lake, fishing, a bandstand, children's zoo and cafe - lots to explore and discover. A carriage way goes round the park, and cars are allowed into the park in certain areas so keep a look out if you're walking dogs off lead. It doesn't feel as peaceful as some of the other parks in South London (Dulwich, Peckham Rye) due to being surrounded by major roads and under the Heathrow flight path. Again, like most London parks it tends to be very busy at the weekends with games of football and parents and children out for the day.
