Franco Manca London Reviews

My favorite pizza place - I love this Italian restaurant. The food is amazing and I am sure it's freshly made because the place is packed in the lunch hours. The food must be amazing, if so many people eat there. I also like the polite service and the welcoming attitude of the staff. Recommended.

genuine italian pizza passion - I make a point of eating pizza here whenever I get the opportunity ie whenever I get there early enough not to have to queue half way round the block to get seated. The popularity of this place means you have to either get there early or be prepared to wait, but the wait is certainly worth it. What you get is food of the utmost quality. Most if not all the ingredients are organically sourced. The dough has been proved for 20 hours. The pizzas are flash cooked in wood fired pizza ovens in 40 seconds to give a devinely chewy, tasty pizza with little freckles of charring on the crusts. The owner has a passion for quality and it shows, however the prices are incredibly cheap - ie they start at under a fiver. Watching the logs being lobbed into the ovens and the pizzas coming out on the end of long paddles is culinary theatre and you will eat pizza here a quality unlikely to be surpassed in London. I feel fortunate to have this as a local eatery.

Yes this place is great - Just to agree with the reviews already given. Fast service, cheap prices and the most delicious pizza in London. I was in Venice at the weekend and the pizza I had there was not as good as Franca Manca's. Only open in the daytime and v, busy on Saturday.

Superb and Simple - Stopped by here for lunch recently and I concur with previous reviews - the pizza here is great. Tucked away in Brixton market between a votive candle shop and some Nigerian food stores, Franco Manca is very much back to basics. A selection of wooden tables either inside the two rooms or outside, a big wood fired oven and a short and sweet menu. Pizzas are basic (as they should be - no chicken tikka toppings here) but you can add additional meats/veg/cheese if you so wish. I had a great margarita - with a thin crisp base topped with a smear of tangy tomato, some oregano, a hint of garlic and the creamiest mozzarella. Mmmm. My lunch partner opted for the salty sounding olive, capers and anchovy pizza which was deemed "Fandabidozi!" 2 glasses of wine, a crisp refreshing side salad and an espresso and we still got change from £15. Not a place to linger but for pizza cravings this place certainly hits the spot. Service is swift and friendly and the bustling market adds to the atmosphere, providing a good backdrop for people watching.

Review from an Italian - Best pizza I have had outside Italy. Simple, minimalistic menu - very post-modern. Full of character. Try the organic lemonade.

at least a tasty pizzeria - Simple tasty pizza. The way it should be.
Franco Manca reminds me of pizzas in Rome, like at La Montecarlo.
I just love it.

They recently extended so the place is now bigger and lost a bit of its original charm but it's less crowded and easier to get a spot quickly!

just a pizza oven and coffee machin - I work in brixton and have never really felt there was a place i could go to get a cheap, delicious meal, til i found this beauty.

the bases are all sourdough and all the ingredients are sourced locally and they are even tutoring a local cheese supplier how to make it better, they only have about 6 pizzas plus a special, starting from 3 pound 50 or something, and totally moreish

they also serve a delicious homemade lemonade in glass stopper bottles at a pound each, and similar on the red wine front

they only do a few things- but almost perfectly, and if you suggest something is a bit too much (sometimes a bit too generous even) they will tell you they know and are working on it.

all the lovely furniture is old solid oak, lovely place to sit, mostly only italians eating there, plussince opening they're already extending- says it all.

Authentic Superb Pizza - This is a gem, so much so i almost won't share the tip... But the best things in life are usually shared.
Ok i have time to expand my review. £7 for pizza and a glass of organic wine, expresso thrown in for free...
My regular pizza is the 2 types chorizo, soooo delicious and so right. Beautiful coloured wheels of slightly wood oven charred base, basil flavoured tommmy sauce, with Brindisa supplied chorizo. The nightmare is that having accidentally stumbled across this place on their opening day in early summer (never b4 have i set trends!) we now face queues for tables, oh why do the 'others' have to make this place into such a successful bisiness. Leave it to us locals!
