Nosh London Reviews

Sickly sweet and tepid? - Pasta arrabiata at Nosh was cheapish, but poorly microwaved and slathered in a sauce whose closest relative is probably American catchup--in other words, a corn syrup based sauce with some tomato to give it color.
Add to this a chaotic kitchen that took a while to process my order, and the fact that I had to pay extra for cheese on my pasta (which, given the temperature, never melted)...I simply won't be going back.
On the other hand, if you're there anyway, they do offer curries and panninis, and they won't give you food poisoning. Conceivably, you could do worse.

It's a Tough Choice - Nosh recently joined the scrum at Aldwych, where you can see a serious battle going on among and between both the chain take away lunch shops (Pret, Eat, even Wasabi) and the mainstream coffee shops (Costa, Starbucks). Offering more or less the same fair (but attempting to distinguish themselves by also offering more hot food like pasta, curries and jacket potatoes), Nosh is a bit of weird addition to the game.

I say weird, but I don't mean that to be necessarily negative. I dunno, there's something about it that doesn't quite sit right with me, although I do eat here reasonably frequently. They have decent sandwiches, which they usually will heat up on a grill, but I kind of get the feeling that their prices (which match those of the competition across the street) are a bit overpriced, and that the quality is not quite as high as their neighbors.

Still, they do have good coffee, and they are conveniently located on the close side of Kingsway which is often all it takes for me to decide to go to Nosh vs Eat et al. Also friends of mine swear by the jacket potatoes, although I've never tried them. The place does mostly take away business, but there is a reasonably cozy eating area as well, and a massive flat screen blaring Sky News at diners in case you need to see the latest headlines. If you work in the area, I suppose it's worth it to mix things up once a week, but definitely not anything you need to make a trip to.
