Foxtrot Oscar London Reviews

Exactly how I expected - On the website for Gordon Ramsay's Foxtrot Oscar it describes it as offering simple, classic dishes. It is, a bistro, not a Michelin starred restaurant.

So, once you get your head round that, everything else makes sense.

It's a nice bistro: great, attentive service, nicely presented unpretentious food at a reasonable price.

I went there on Saturday evening, had 3 courses: crab on toast, lobster pie and creme brule. My companion had mozarella salad, daurade (a kind of sea bream I think) and strawberry tarte.

It was just tasty, substantial food coming to about £90 for the two of us including wine and coffee. So all in all, a good result.

I'm not sure about the previous comment about service. There were no mistakes, they were very charming and checked that we were happy with everything. I couldn't fault it.

I would definitely go back again. It's just the sort of thing for something a bit more interesting than going to your local pub bistro, but without the formality and expense of a super-posh restuarant.

Great food, hilariously bad service - We went to Ramsay's latest offering on a Sunday Times offer the other week. Four of us enjoyed three lovely courses (pigeon with chorizo, fish pie, rhubarb tart seemed to be the best combo). THe food was great and seemed pretty traditional British, but with a bit of flair.
The service, however, was pretty diabolical and I'm amazed that Gordon can put his name to this place! The waiters were friendly but very unattentive; despite us stating that we were on the SUnday Times offer when we arrived they gave us the full a la carte, then when the bill came we had to argue about the price (v much their mistake!); and they bought the wrong food over - the waiter said it was chicken pie, when i asked if it was actually fish... "er yeah" (incorrectly!) was what came out. Shocking, though quite amusing when you think what Ramsay would say!
I'd recommend this place for the food only, the decor, atmosphere and waiters are somewhat lacking!
