The Perseverance London Reviews

Again, turn the volume down! - I used to love this pub. Not only because it is on my street but it used to be cool and different and artisan....no longer. So loud was the music that not only could you no longer go to it as a cool place to have a drink with your mates but it was booming on the streets at 11:45 at night....on a pedestrianised street. Not an old-folk by far but keep it inside - and taking the mick I think. Not a night-club and taken a really cool and groovy pub and made it sleezy and annoyed all the locals, including me. Well done. How to drive a business out of business. annoy the locals!!!

Turn the bleedin' volume down! - OK, I'm not as young as I used to be, but I'm not old and deaf either. Go along to The Perseverance on Lamb's Conduit St and you'll soon feel that you are. Packed on week nights, this really has the makings of a fantastic pub. Great central location, a trendy street and lots of hip young people in the area. Situated opposite Great Ormond Street Hospital, the pub was renovated a year or so ago and has a dining room upstairs. The food menu is extensive and actually rather good. However, don't expect to be able to chat to your mates unless you stand outside in the street, because the bar staff seem intent on deafening everyone with their own unique taste in music. There are large speakers everywhere you look and no matter how rubbish the music (Blondie anyone?) it's played LOUDLY. Every single time I've been there - including on a very quiet afternoon last week when there were only 8 people in the pub - I or one of my friends, or someone else in the pub has had to ask the bar staff to turn down the music so that we could hear ourselves think. And the staff don't like being asked. Sorry stroppy staff, if you want to spin tracks in a club, get another job. You're ruining a perfectly good local with your decibels and attitude. Go along and try this place, by all means, but don't be afraid to make them turn the bleedin' volume down.
