Loggerheads Boarding Cattery London Reviews

Loggerheads Awful Cattery - Took two nervous rescue cats to this place when both my cat sitters were not available and will never take them back. Had a lovely email from someone who sounded like a real cat lover who assured me they'd take care of them and help them settle in since they were rescue and likely to be nervous.

Arrived to collect my cats first thing to find one of them stuck in their carrier already, whether he'd been in all night or about to be in all day I didn't know but they didn't know when I was arriving to take them home. The other was hiding on a beam at the very top of the cage with barely 10cm between the beam and the ceiling, and it appeared she'd been petrified and hiding up there for most of her 1 week stay.

THE WORST CATTERY EVER!!!! - DO NOT PUT YOUR CAT IN THE CARE OF THESE PEOPLE!! I placed my cat with her kittens in this cattery for a couple of months due to a personal circumstance and my kittens hadn't been immunised for one and they knew that!! When I did get my cat and kittens back, my cat was so traumatised she actually went slightly mad and no-one could go near her, she growled at everyone including her kittens. When I visited my cat, she was so pleased to see us, like 'please take me home' but I couldn't at that point.... leaving her there was misery but I had no idea how bad it was for her until I finally took her home. I whole heartedly agree with all the negative comments that the cats are neglected and not fed and whatever else goes on there, who knows?? I know one thing for sure, my cat was a loving happy cat before she went in and was most certainly not the deranged animal that came back out!! Fortunately, she has enough love from us and is back to her normal self.... without the thanks of Mandy & co!! Total disgrace of a cattery just a money making machine in my opinion.

Logger heads - I've been pleased with the cattery and will definitely be using them again when I go away.

The cattery is clean and doesn't smell. I found it easily and there is free parking on the side roads.

You can relax knowing your cat is safe. I've never let anyone look after my cat before and was a little worried, but I had nothing to fear as everything was good.

The staff are polite and friendly. I called up to check how my cat was and was pleased to hear good news. I would recommend this cattery to others.

sadness - Make sure you visit a place before taking your cat there. You have to make sure you're cat is suited to the environment, do not just rely on what people say.

paws for concern - my 18 year old cat has lived in an outside dog kennel filled with pillows for the last 3 years. She is extremely low maintenance but healthy and happy looking. we had few concerns for her welfare in any cattery. we placed her in the cattery for 4 weeks while our garden was landscaped and took a holiday. we were horrified on collecting the cat to find her almost skeletal with a worrying scab on her nose. when we got her home, usually indifferent she was very clingy and VERY hungry. after 2 days she settled back into her kennel. its now 2 months later and she is back to normal healthy weight and her nose is healed. initially we thought because she was old the scab was some type of cancer but we did give it benefit of doubt and it did clear up. given that the cat only needs 3 pouches of food a day and some water it is concerning that a cattery fails to provide adequate enough food and care for what is essentially a "feral" (outside) cat.

WOULD RECOMMEND - I have been bring my 2 cats to loggerheads for many years now and i have found them great. I would never leave my cats anywhere else i just cant believe i am reading about the same cattery as i take my cats to. my cats do get upset at them being lefted how would we like it if our mummy and daddy left us we would cry and not eat so i cant believe that your cats are any different from mine. I have found the owner mandy and her staff very helpful and caring. The person who wrote about giving there cat raw meat i would never give my cat raw meat as a vet said it can cause brain damage in cats. so good on you at loggerheads for not giving there cat raw meat as you could have had a very sick cat. The people who have bad comments about loggerheads are just sad moaney old farts that do not know about cats mood very well. I shall be leaving my cats at loggerheads at christmas while we go away but my cats will moan about this but that life so all you bad people get a life and live in the real world. WELL DONE LOGGERHEADS FOR THE YEARS YOU HAVE CARED FOR MY CATS.

Would Not Recommend - We left our cat at loggerheads for 2 week whilst we went on holiday. When i first contacted them for information, they could not give us any as they where not even at the cattery, when i called the number it was tranfered to a mobile phone number which i thought was very un-profesional and also shows that they are not there.

When we dropped off our cat, i was asked what type of food she ate and how many times a day again i do not think they listened to one word of what i said, because when we collected her she had noticebly lost weight.

We also asked if we could collect our cat on Sunday as we back from holiday on the Saturday evening, we were told we could not collect her as there was nobody there on Sundays?? Now that rings alarm bells does'nt it (HOW CAN YOUR CAT BE FEAD AND CARED FOR WHEN THERE IS NOBODY THERE). We stressed to them that this was very inconvenient for us as we could not collect on the Monday as we had work, so they said that we could collect her on the Sunday only at 11am so they sent someone to open up the cattery for 5mins so we could collect her.

When we collected her, she seemed so happy to see us, now our cat is a loving cat, but not that loving. She was covered in saw dust as was her carry case (SO THAT SHOWS WHERE SHE SLEPT FOR 2 WEEKS)and she smelt really bad.

As the same as the other reviews, the first thing our cat did was eat 3 packets of food but unfortunately it did not stay down long, as she was had sickness and dioreah for 2 weeks.

The one advise i can give you is: If you are looking for a nice comfortable cattery, where your cat recieves love, care, attention and you want them back in the same healthy condition you left them in. DO NOT TAKE THEM TO LOGGERHAEDS! Take your pet to a professional

Disbelief - I can't believe the first two correspondents are talking about the same Loggerheads. The one I use in Chingford (owner is Mandy) is fantastic. Not only do I rarely sense the usual cat smell to be found in catteries, but it is warm and dry and extremely clean.

I have had 4 cats stay at Loggerheads and whilst they all have an attitude with me when I get them home (for daring to take them away from home!) they are quickly settled in and I can tell that they have been well looked after.

For the person serving their cat raw rabbit, I watched QI (Stephen Fry) a number of weeks ago where the question was asked about what would happen to you if you ate rabbit only and absolutely nothing else - the answer was death because they said it has no nutritional value, so it might be worth checking that up.

VERY HAPPY CATS! - My Cat Recently Had Kittens Just Before I Was Due To Go On A Weeks Holiday, I Thought It Was A Disaster As I Couldnt Expect My Neighbour To Look After Them For A Week While I Was Away. After Many Hours Of Searching And Looking Through The Yellow Pages I Found Loggerheads. I Rang Them Up And The Woman On The Phone Was Very Helpful And Said It Wouldnt Be A Problem To Look After My Cat And Kittens.
I Took Them There And Watched Them Get Settled In To Nice, Clean And Spacious Pens. It All Seemed Very Organised.
I Would Definetley Reccomend Loggerheads As I Know The Team Of Workeres There Are Responsible People.

Outstanding! - I left three of my cats in Loggerheads while i went away for two weeks, and the way my cats were looked after is nothing like the reviews i have just read. They were well fed and when i went to pick them up i noticed they had all put on a bit of weight. My cats are pedigrees aswell one of them being a maine coon and the other being siamese. While i was gone my maine coon which has very long, thick fur was well groomed and came back in better condition that when i left her. I've used loggerheads cattery for the last six years and i would never dream of leaving my cats in anyone elses care while i went away. About a year back i had another siamese cat who has recently passed away, she was looked after at loggerheads and she was 20 years old at the time. They are a lovely group of girls that work there, very polite and caring. The owner is 100%committed in what she does and cares about her work alot. I simply can't believe that anyone would have a bad word to say about this place and totally disagree with anyone who thinks otherwise.

We took home a different cat! - Never again.

I do not believe that the cats are fed twice a day!

We took in a confident, happy, healthy, playful, and gentle cat - but when we went to pick her up she as already in her carrier (no idea how long she had been in there) and she was wild eyed with fear, and hissing.

When we got her home she looked depressed and dazed and was clingy and unresponsive for three days. She was also really skinny having lost loads of weight in just one week.

Our cat then cried everytime we were out of sight and got really distressed.

I dont believe the cats are fed three times a day (what I was told) and I now know that they are left alone a LOT. I was shocked how much weight she lost and how depressed she was when we collected her.

I believe that she was not fed properly, and was very lonely - as she was left alone most of the day in a cage - with no natural light, and no company - and now I keep imagining her crying for some affection but nobody being there.

Like the previous reviewer our cat ate a days worth of food as soon as she got in when normally she takes her time and eats a little at a time.

NEVER again. :(

I have now learned that MOST catteries are completely unattended MOST of the day with staff only there at feeding times.

Most catteries are also unattended at night. ...what if there was a fire?!

It would be better to get a kindly neighbour to catsit in their own home (in same neighbourhood).
Cattery like a cat hotel? ...more like cat prison!

Would never use again - We took our 4 month old kitten Siberian purebreed there for a couple of days. On their website they claim they will feed your cat the same food that you feed them. Since she is a purebreed with certain requirements to ensure she is healthy and nutritionally satisfied, we feed her on a raw diet with some kibble if she needs it after eating her raw food. I spoke to them several times about this, including when we dropped her off and at no time did they say they would not feed her this. They complained about worms and serious harm to the cat which is rubbish - we take very good care of our kitty.

I even took some of her food and the kibble with me since I don't expect them to provide ground rabbit for us.

When we got her back, I was told that they didn't give her any of the food and that they had given her commercial "pouches" and dry food instead. We would never feed her commercial food due to all the sugar, carbs, and additives they put in it not to mention that cats are obligate predators so aren't really suited to eating cooked meat, they contain less than half the quantity of food she requires in a day.

They ignored our feeding instructions and couldn't even be bothered to tell me, when we got her back, she was terrified, her ears were down, smelly, and was clearly miserable there since the first thing she did was pee and poop over the inside of our car.

I am not convinced she was fed properly because the first thing she did when we got her home was run straight for her food bowl and wolf down a days worth of food in 10 minutes.

She clearly had a bad time and was very hungry when she came back to us and could not go to the toilet how/when she needed to.

Will NOT use again!
