Situated in the Brompton Hotel, Janet's Bar serves a variety of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails as well as a selection of pizzas and bar snacks. They also provide background music, making this an ideal venue for an intimate soiree or a pleasant evening with guests. Catering for private parties of up to 100 guests is available upon request. Terrace seating is also available.

Basic Customer Service Badly Needed - Roaming the streets of South Kensington last night in search of a screen to watch what was left of the open ceremony, a woman on the pavement was looking for preys: it was Janet!

She quickly sized the opportunity and shouted "y'all looking for a screen? there's one right here but you gotta buy drinks!"

We all looked at each other and thought: we are in! So we went in. Big mistake.

We could not even finish the first round of drinks that Janet sent the young girl to our table to push for more orders, then Janet herself came to tell us we had to move our chairs closer to the table as "the bar was about to get packed and she needed space" then the boy came to give us an ultimatum: order more drinks or leave.....then the final blow: Janet raided our table saying she needed it for some customers that had just come in with a reservation.

How rude, pushy and agressive!!!!!

The bar was empty(ish) there was no sign of a crowd mobbing the place....what was she on?!!!

We stood up and left pretty angry....what an undignified way of running a tatty bar!! The older the bar, the greater the need for management to compensate the physical inadequacies.... normally!! But in this case: the tattier the business, the cockier the Janet... more like it!!!

She literally shouted: "GET OUT"....yep, that's because some of us did not order more drinks and others were still drinking theirs. Unreal.

As we stood outside on Janet's familiar pavement gathering our thoughts on the unfortunate encounter, a group of girls came out of the bar and having heard it all just said: "expensive plastic surgery clearly requires more maintenance!" We couldn't agree more.

Cheerio Janet, and indeed.....let the Games begin!

is this for real? - By reading below reviews I start to think I went to the wrong place!
This place is odd! The staff was rather unfriendly and there is posters in the bathroom stating don't even think about taking drugs and if you block the toilet you will have to pay a lot to get a plumber out. For being South Ken I was expecting a bit more.

Wowowowowowow - TOTALLY agree with the review below. Go there immediately. I went for the first time a few months back and now consider myself a loyal regular. They even know my drink, which also goes to show how attentive and professional the bar staff are. I’ve had countless amazing nights there now and keep going back. I love the live music. I love the little terrace outside. I love the interior decoration. I love the huge cocktail list and how it's all personalised- Janet's Love Lotion, yes please!! (There are also beer and wine and spirits of course). I love meeting new people there and also chatting to Janet herself, who is fun and gregarious and wild. It's always a party there. It's open until very late, like the little hours of the morning, which is perfect. Overall, the bar has a really cool, authentic American vibe- they offer you free PB&J sandwiches, popcorn and hot dogs! It's particularly on weekends but also every night of the week. Lots of people go there before (or after) Boujis, the club round the corner. The service is the best of anywhere I’ve been before- five star. You never wait around waiting to be served. The drink prices are good value and they're also worth what you pay. There are obviously tonnes of regulars like myself and my friends and just indicates how much we all love it there. Janet's Bar has got the WOW factor. Just go and see for yourself.

Woop WooopAA!! How refreshing!! - Escaped Boujis last night as I just couldn't handle the drink prices for the sober state I was in, but just wanted that one last drink elsewhere. I strolled along with my mate and we just couldn't find or think of anyhwere..! so we strolled towards a road which really looked like there was nothing there bar hotels. (We actually thought we'd just end up in a characterless hotel bar), and happened totally randomly at Janet's! I thought it was just fantastic and I'm screaming that I have never been there before or even heard of the place!!!! Errr!! Why has no one told me or are they keeping it their secret!?

It's totally what I look for in a bar and more. I agree with all the reviews here (bar it being my local - it soon will be!) and the fact the staff are anywhere near rude. There was only one eager moment to take away my half drunk pinacolada - but I snatched it back like a cobra giving a very obvious sign to the keen barmaid.

I loved the style, music, drinks, peanut butter sandwiches that come round!!! ha ha!! Really personal fun place! As we walked in it was like we 'found a little kept gem', and also like we were walking into a private house party - as everyone seemed so relaxed there, like they'd been there since the 50's!! - Not due to age but the vibe!! I think Janet was there - if she was the uber glamorous lady in the red dress. Just brilliant and what london needs more of!!

The New York comment hit me too in one of the reviews. I can imagine Americans loving it!! Fun, a bit chaotic, personalities everywhere, a little terrace with neon lights outside, a brilliant bar with so much variety you just don't know what to try first. It also feels like a holiday bar/coyote ugly bar - and the instant you walk in there you know you're going to have a good night - really wicked! Anyway enough from me I'm rambling, but I'm definitely going back there!

Best Bar In London - I can happily say that I think Janet's is without a doubt the best bar in London. I've been to quite a few all over the capital, and you'd have to travel all the way to New York City in order to find such a quirky, vibrant venue anywhere else. As soon as you step inside, you feel like you're in a Manhattan dive bar- it's intimate, brimming with a laid-back, cool crowd of people, and gently humming with the sound of live music. There are several unique things about Janet's that make it so special. Firstly, the selection of drinks is extensive. Above and beyond your usual wine and beer selection, there's an array of cocktails, both classic (Long Island Iced Tea) and original (Janet's Love Lotion; Frangelico Mojito), plus numerous whiskeys, which are also popular. Then there are your regular bottled beers, soft drinks and the wine list. The prices are great, bearing in mind the central, upmarket location of the bar. Secondly, the live music makes Janet's stand out from other venues. The musician can play anything and does so at a good volume so you don't have to yell. Thirdly, the bar stays open late so you won't have to leave while the night is still young, unlike other places in South Kensington. Lastly, you're likely to be offered free snacks like popcorn and PB&J sandwiches! On top of all of that, the service is amazing. You're never kept waiting. The friendly bar staff will whisk away your order and return with a tray of drinks in a matter or minutes. Janet herself will sometimes come to the bar and light up the room with her gregarious personality and infectious laugh. She wants to know all her customers by name and chat with them like old friends. You can see why Janet has such a loyal following. I highly recommend the bar. In my honest opinion, it's a five star spot. There's nothing else like it in London.

FIVE STARS - I've tried and tested plenty of bars all over London and can honestly say that Janet's Bar is unparalleled. There is live music every night of the week- three different singers, all of whom are a marvel, play their versions of popular songs (at a volume just loud enough to hear but not so loud that one feels the need to shout in order to be heard) to a vibrant, eclectic crowd. The interior is intimate, playful and personal, as the walls are papered all over with photographs and the surfaces lined with little keepsakes from past celebrations i.e. a party hat left over from the new year, a banner strung up since St Patrick's Day, a little bowl for peanuts someone misplaced on Halloween etc. Such decor suggests that the bar doesn't take itself too seriously. And neither does its clientele: a well-dressed yet laid-back and unpretentious horde of people of all ages.

The drinks menu is loooong- you can decide between one of the numerous yummy cocktails (classics such as the Cosmopolitan or Daiquiri, or something more original like Janet's Love Lotion or Between The Sheets), or pick a glass/bottle of one of the high-quality wines or champagnes on offer. The drinks are definitely worth the prices on the menu, which are reasonable considering that the bar is located right at the heart of South Kensington! There's also food available, complementary with your drinks- popcorn, nuts, PB and J sandwiches, hot dogs.. I've even seen pizza been ordered in! It's a really welcoming, friendly environment.

Recently, groups of young professionals have gathered at Janet's to have a few drinks before heading out to Boujis, the nightclub across the road. To accommodate them, on selected weeknights the bartenders serve up £3 shots of a gorgeous vodka and fruity liquor mixture.

And Janet herself is a pistol. She's a gregarious New Yorker, always quick with a big smile- you'll know her when you see her. The service is great too- you never have to wait for your order to be taken or your drinks to be served.

Every time I go to Janet's Bar, I'm treated in some innovative way! Whether it's a hot dog on the house, meeting someone new or trying a novel cocktail I'd yet to sample, I always have an incredible night and wake up the next day unable to wait to go back!

Turn up sober - I've been in Janet's Bar for all of five minutes. It was uni. We were doing a pub crawl. It was late.

I ordered a vodka and something (from what I can remember, it was chokingly expensive), I'd barely got a sip to my lips before it was literally taken out of my hands and we were forcibly ejected.

Against my consumer rights? Probably.
My fault for turning up with a group of raucous girls that could barely walk? Possibly.
You decide because I won't be going back.

well I loved it! - I have to disagree with the previous review. I go to the bar almost every weekend and always leave in a really good mood! The bar is cosy, and different to any other bar, with welcoming staff. The crowd is fun and cosmopolitan. I love the house wine!

Janet's Bar - Worst place ever! - Three of us friends, completely sober, walked in at about 9pm and ordered cocktails. The Mojitos ordered by one of my friends had ROTTEN mint!!!

And this is not all, the hostess (not Janet - but a fat lady wearing a red jumper, I think she is called Sacha) refused to accept that the drink was bad. Even after I tasted the drink and it was REALLY BAD. When my friend, asked her that he DOESN'T want a bad drink she was really rude and asked him to order a replacement. He politely said that he will just wait till he recovers from the bad taste in his mouth and reorder soon. She rudely asked him to order NOW or leave. And this when two out of the three of us were already having cocktails. We left. I asked her that "You could have been nicer. This is not how Janet operates." She just asked me to leave.
