The Grosvenor, also known as the Thistle Victoria Hotel has over 300 rooms and is within easy reach of the West End and Theatreland. All their rooms are en suite and each room boasts a satellite TV and mini bar. Non smoking rooms are also available. Executive and twin rooms are also provided. This hotel boasts 7 conference rooms.

For tourists & the uninformed - What a nightmare - I'm currently sitting in my THIRD room at the Thistle Victoria.

The first room was actually inhabited by another guest. Literally, I put the keycard in the door, it opened, and I saw someone else lying on the bed watching TV. I felt horrible - totally shocked him. I went back downstairs and complained, and the manager (I assume) was very contrite and gave me a new room.

So, I went up to this new room and immediately realised that it was a smoking room. Being American, this was totally unacceptable to me. Especially considering that my original room preference was non-smoking, it was unacceptable for me to be placed in a stinky smoking room, which was coincidentally the size of my closet at home.

Finally I was given an acceptable room - of course very small and without the standard amenities of most hotels I've ever stayed at in the US, but acceptable.

It's really shocking to me that they can charge GBP 100 and above for this. When you get down to it, this is a slum hotel - nothing is really nice at all. If you can afford it, go for something better - or don't be surprised when you go through the same rubbish as I did.
