Oh dear...oh dear...oh dear! - My daugher and I decided to have lunch out one day last week. Unfortunately, most of the places we would have gone finished serving lunch at 2.30, so we ended up at the Grove Tavern.

Firstly, we had to wait for about 10 minutes to be seated as we were ignored by the staff. We tried to catch someone's eye at the bar but he was too busy flirting with the girls to pay any attention to us.

We were eventually seated...and again ignored. I did suggest to my daughter we drive to Sainsbury's and pick up some shopping for a lunch at home, but she wanted to stay, as she's a patient soul and noticed there was only one woman serving.

When she eventually took our order it was another long wait for the food. I have to say the food was superb, and reasonably priced, but the slow service, dirty surroundings and lack of staff awareness (those there obviously enjoy the servings!) made this an experience not to be repeated.

Shame really, as I'm sure it could be a lovely experience if more care was taken.

O M G - Well I will never go there again. I have been there a few times, and it was always busy and so I thought ok they really don't have time to clean under the tables of food and the odd knife and fork and spoon. The menu's were always sticky and the tables. I went there in January and I just couldn't belive it, we were brought to a table which had just been wiped over and underneath the table were chips, bits of rolls and salad. I looked at the waiter and looked at the floor and he just said sorry and picked up a chip and chucked it in a bin which was near is workstation (next to his till) which I might add was dirty and untidy with dirty glasses. He took our order and I went up to get a drink and there was a women from the kitchen sweeping up around the salad bar dust flying around it. Our food came which was not bad, but when it came to pay, he brought the bill on a dirty greasey plate. You have just lost a customer, you need to get new staff or re-train or its just they really don't care as they are all very young. I have read what people have said about this place before and its not very good. I'm really surprised its still open
