Summer madness - There are times I love the POW, and other times I despise it. It is in an enviable spot in Blackheath, situated as it is right on the heath. This is both its best and worst feature. It does give the POW possibly the largest beer garden in London, even if that does mean having to use cheap plastic glasses. However it also becomes a honeypot on hot weekends for folk from all corners of SE London. The bar staff struggle to cope with the volume of custom and seem unable to keep on eye on who might be next(surely a requirement for all barstaff).

That said, its nice enough inside and the beer garden at the rear provides a little more tranquillity. The selection of beers is good and now includes the local Meantime Pale Ale. The food is wholesome, average but not poor. For all its woes, I'll keep going back.
