no bananas but excellent coffee - We first came across the Blue Banana when looking for an alternative to the cafe selection under"The Arches"in Westcliff down the road. The exterior is minimalist in the extreme , like a cigarette packet on it's end.Inside it is light and airy with window area on the first floor that can be opened to provide very much a "balcony feel" which makes great use of Estuary views. The big plus however is the coffee. Really excellent.Also a selection of Paninis and great toasted sandwiches which are complimented by a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The owners are particularly unusual in that they help to create a very personal feel to the place by treating everyone as a valuable and interesting individual without being condescending in any way.The place is due for a major extension next year which I hope will provide a more extensive menu but without sacrificing the unique welcome and atmosphere that it currently offers 14-06-08
