The Kings Arms is a pub that serves traditional English and vegetarian food in the form of a three course meal, as well as daily specials. Children and dogs are welcome. They have fruit and quiz machines. Catering for private parties of up to 65 seated guests is available upon request, as is seating on the pavement area weather permitting.

Old school pub - This is basically what it says on the tin... an old school pub albeit with an ok wine list.

Visited the Kings Arms last Thursday night with a small group of friends. We arrived at about 7-ish and it was absolutely mobbed - this was November and people were spilling into the street so much that they have a warden who asks people to stay on the pavement! Inside there was barely room to breathe in the downstairs bar (similar upstairs) and it was tricky negotiating the route to the bar.

After some time trying to exert our best bar presence, we were finally served and (seemingly miraculously) a table with stools became free. One of our party vaulted over a nearby group to reach it first and then defended her turf while we battled to take over drinks and coats to join her. From then on it was a lovely, cozy, chatty evening with a decent selection of wine.

The decor is as you expect and not quite as original as I'd have liked. On the plus side, the toilets are definitely not as original as some pubs nearby and were clean.

So, I guess, in summary - this is your typical pub - no more, no less. I'm now old enough to admit that getting a place to sit makes for a more enjoyable night at the pub. A tip for anyone else visiting - the crowds did tend to arrive and leave in waves over the evening so it might be worth waiting it out to see if your miracle table becomes free.
